This Emergency First Aid at Work at QCF Level 2 and SCQF Level 5 (Scotland) course is to enable individuals designated as the first aider at work to carry out appropriate first aid in an emergency.
Following the course, the attendees will be able to manage a casualty who is injured at work, or suffers from a serious illness, until the emergency services arrive.
This course is also the minimum recommended by the HSE for first aiders in smaller or low risk workplaces.
A minimum of six contact hours in the classroom, consisting of practical and theoretical activities.
A range of subjects is covered including:
- What is Emergency First Aid?
- Action in an emergency
- Primary survey
- Secondary assessment
- The respiratory system
- Disorders of respiration
- Adult basic life support
- Foreign objects
- Disorders of the circulation
- Minor burns and scalds
- Wounds and bleeding
This course is subject to ongoing assessment by the Instructor throughout the course. There is no final assessment. The Instructor observes attendees practice sessions as the training progresses to ensure the required level of understanding.
All successful attendees will be awarded an OFQUAL (Level 2) or an SQA (Level 5) regulated qualification. certificate, valid for three years.
