According to the General Medical Council (GMC) and General Dental Council (GDC), you must keep documentary evidence of all the verifiable Continuing Professional Development (CPD) that you have done.

This means you must have written information from the provider confirming that you have undertaken the CPD describing the: 

  • Concise educational aims and objectives;
  • Clear anticipated outcomes; and
  • Quality controls.

Our course is specifically tailored to health professionals, including medical, dental, therapy and administrative staff, providing 4 hours verifiable CPD.

Course Description

This practical course includes training in basic life support, and recognising the signs and symptoms, and subsequent treatment of medical emergencies.

It will also enable learners to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) competently and with confidence.

The training is set in accordance with current UK Resuscitation Council guidelines and the recommendations detailed in the HSE Approved Code of Practice.

Who Should Attend?

This course is designed specifically for health professionals and staff to ensure all employees are trained and prepared to deal with life threatening situations they may encounter while working within the practice.


By the end of the course students will learn:

  • How to deal with an unconscious casualty who is breathing, and an unconscious casualty who is not breathing
  • Basic life support including CPR
  • Medical emergencies
  • Safe use of an AED

  • Primary Survey
  • Secondary Assessment
    • Recovery Position
  • Principles of Resucitation
  • Major Illness including:
    • Heart Attack and Angina
    • Stroke
    • Diabetes
    • Asthma
    • Choking
    • Anaphylaxis
    • Epilepsy and Seizures
    • Syncope (Fainting)
    • Shock
  • Safe use of an AED


A minimum of 4 contact hours in the classroom, consisting of practical and theoretical activities.


£290 per course or £40 per person (min 6 delegates)  (price includes VAT)

Assessment and Certification

Learners are continually evaluated throughout the course.

All learners deemed to have reached the required standard will be issued with a certificate of attendance.
