Care Home Staff Fire Safety Training

Our Care Home Fire Training Course is suitable for all staff in residential care homes, nursing homes, assisted living complexes, and independent living facilities.

Suitable delegates for the course include: care home managers and supervisors, care support staff, domestic staff, and agency workers.

We understand the challenges care homes face on a day-to-day basis, and we have designed a 2-hour fire safety awareness course targeted to your needs.

Our team has delivered fire training to dozens of care homes throughout the East Midlands, receiving excellent feedback and repeat bookings.

We can also train staff on the use of evacuation mats and equipment, which can be incorporated into the course.

Duration Of Course:

  • 2 hours (Courses can be adapted to accommodate staff shift patterns, etc.)

  • What to do if you discover a fire – including evacuation methods
  • Fire prevention basics
  • Classes of fire
  • Fire extinguisher types & colour coding
  • Fire extinguisher capabilities & limitations
  • How to operate a fire extinguisher
  • How to correctly use a fire blanket

Practical Session

  • Fire action routines
  • Use of water, CO2 extinguishers and fire blanket

Care Home Live Fire Extinguisher Training

Course Requirements

Theory sessions can take place in a meeting room, training room, lounge, or dining room.

The practical session takes place in a suitable outside area (approximately 3-5 car parking spaces) away from buildings.

We bring all appropriate training equipment (including fire extinguishers).

Courses are typically conducted during daylight hours to ensure the safe use of training with fire extinguishers. However, evening courses with revised content can also be arranged for night-shift staff.

We can adapt training start times to match your shift pattern, maximising the number of staff trained.
