Fire Extinguisher Course
Our Fire Extinguisher Course is designed for anyone who is expected to respond to a fire alarm or may be confronted by a real fire.
In a controlled, safe environment, delegates will be trained to handle and operate various fire extinguishers, gaining hands-on experience extinguishing live fires with water and CO2 extinguishers, as well as the fire blanket.
In just 2 hours, we share a lot of information on the course, although the practical element is the primary focus.
Ensuring your staff are fully trained in the event of a fire is the best way to protect them and other occupants of the premises.
If your staff have already received some form of fire training and only need the practical part (which can’t be done online), this course is ideal.
Who Is The Course For?
This course is for everyone in the workplace who may be confronted with a fire situation.
If you are an employer, business owner, or in control of premises, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires you to ensure that your employees receive adequate fire safety training.
If your fire risk assessment has identified the need for fire extinguishers in the workplace, staff must be trained by a competent person to use them effectively.
Where Can I Attend The Course?
The course is normally run at your workplace, but can be arranged locally for you.
Duration Of Course
Approx. 2 hours
Course Requirements
The theory session takes place in a meeting room, training room, classroom, or lounge. We can plug into a TV or monitor, or we can use our projector and screen.
The practical session takes place in a suitable outside area (approximately the size of 3-4 car parking spaces) away from cars and buildings.
PRT-Training will bring all appropriate training equipment (including fire extinguishers, fire blankets, etc.).
Suitable outdoor clothing and footwear should be worn.
Cost
£375 per course (This is the cost of the course, not per individual) – no VAT to pay.
Number of Attendees
You can book up to a maximum of 12 delegates on this course.

Course Aims and Objectives
- Have an understanding of the ‘fire triangle‘ and the different classes of fires.
- What extinguishers are available in the workplace, including their advantages and disadvantages
- Classes of fire and which extinguishers to use on them.
- Be able to correctly and safely select and use a fire extinguisher – P.A.S.S. Method
- When and how to use a fire blanket
- Conduct basic checks
- Be able to correctly and safely operate a fire extinguisher if confronted with a real fire
