
Matt joined Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) in 1995 and retired in August 2025 as Group Manager.
During this time, he served at Lincoln, Grantham, Boston, Waddington Training Centre, and Headquarters, and has worked across many departments throughout his career.
Matt has responded to numerous fire-related incidents as a Level 3 Commander.
He was also a Level 5 Fire Investigation Officer, leading several significant fire investigations, including those involving fatalities, and has supported Police and CSIs at serious crime scenes, as well as represented LFR in the Crown and Coroner’s Courts.

During COVID, Matt served as Resources & Logistics Cell Chair at the County Emergency Centre and then as Fire Silver Commander, working with multi-agency tactical commanders and District & County Councillors.
Matt has a wide-ranging knowledge and practical application of fire-related activity and is keen to share this knowledge.
He takes great pleasure in upskilling staff to deal effectively with emergencies and to ensure they have the confidence to protect others, mitigate further damage, and stay safe.
